“There are different…spiritual gifts…but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service but the same Lord…” 1 Corinthians 12:4-6
St. John’s Parish offers many different ways to return your gifts of time and talent to God. Participating in a Parish Ministry gives you the opportunity to share your faith with others, and to bless our Parish Family.
Lectors are men, women, and young adults who are called to proclaim readings from Sacred Scripture at Mass. They should be willing to be trained, be able to read clearly in public, be available for a regular schedule, and be committed to living the Scriptures they proclaim. Lectors are scheduled to read at all weekend Masses and also at daily Mass.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are men, women, and young adults who assist our Parish Priests in distributing the Eucharist on Sundays and Holy Days. They should be willing to be trained, be available for a regular schedule, and open to bringing Holy Communion to homebound parishioners after Mass.
Ushers are men, women, and young adults who greet people coming into our Church, offer assistance to those in need, take up the collection, and distribute other materials when necessary. They should be willing to be trained and available for regular assignment to Sunday and Holy Day Masses.
The Legion of Mary meets weekly at the Parish for prayer and reflection. Members also visit and share their faith with the sick in local nursing homes and hospitals.
“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord!” Choir members enhance Sunday and special Seasonal Liturgies by supporting congregational singing and continuing the great choral tradition of the Church. Men, women and young adults interested in the choir should be available to sing at the 12Noon Sunday Mass, and also commit to once a week choir practice.
